Alex Bozarjian
Alex Bozarjian joined the ABC13 team in August 2023.

Previously, she was a nightside reporter in Detroit, Michigan. While reporting there, she covered the Oxford High School mass shooting that left four teenagers dead.

She was also one of the first on scene at the Michigan State University shooting in February 2023. In her MSU reporting, Alex obtained exclusive video of the gunman on the run after he shot eight people, killing three.

Alex built strong sources in the Metro Detroit area, scoring a one-on-one with a local police chief who was accused of using only Black men as targets in the department's shooting range. She also followed the disappearance and murders of three young men who went missing after a scheduled rap performance in Detroit, a story that captured national attention.

Alex's career began in Savannah, Georgia. There she worked as a multi-media journalist, fill-in producer, and fill-in anchor. In Georgia, Alex covered the contentious 2020 presidential elections, which ultimately led to the Peach State turning blue for the first time since 1992.

Much of Alex's time in Savannah was consumed by pandemic coverage and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Aside from local reporting, Alex has been sent on assignment as part of a company-wide disaster response team. She assisted two Florida stations after Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Ian.

In 2018, Alex graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in journalism and Latin American studies. Her double major took her to Cuba where she was an associate producer and reporter for a 30-minute special focusing on art, travel, and the environment.

Originally, Alex is from Salem, Massachusetts.

Her mother is from the Dominican Republic and Alex grew up speaking Spanish at home. The tricky last name comes from her father's side, who is Armenian.

In her free time, she likes working out, playing with her dog Margo, and finding a good brunch spot.

Alex is excited to explore and serve the Houston area. If you have any suggestions on places to eat, things to see, or story ideas feel free to reach out!
